The Foreign Minister of Bahrain, Abdullatif Al Zayani, delivered a speech during the consultative meeting on enhancing coordination of peace initiatives and efforts for Sudan at the headquarters of the Arab League Secretariat.

The text of the speech by the Bahraini Foreign Minister is as follows:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Your Excellency, Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit,
Honorable Ministers and Dignitaries,

I am pleased to convey to you the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, President of the current Arab Summit, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and their wishes for your success in your efforts to restore peace, security, and stability to Sudan. I extend my heartfelt thanks to His Excellency Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and the Arab League for organizing this meeting in coordination with the United Nations, and express our appreciation to the African Union and the Islamic Development Bank for their efforts in supporting the establishment of peace, stability, and development in Sudan.

Sudan and its brotherly people are suffering from a serious humanitarian crisis as a result of ongoing military operations, which have led to civilian casualties, displacement, destruction, and severe shortages of basic resources such as food, water, and healthcare. It is imperative that we work together to find ways to end the suffering of millions of Sudanese.

At the Arab Summit, known as the Bahrain Summit, held recently, all Arab leaders affirmed the importance of solidarity with Sudan and called on all parties to engage earnestly and effectively with initiatives to resolve the crisis, such as the Jeddah Forum and neighboring countries, among others.

The Jeddah Humanitarian Declaration, a joint effort between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, served as a beacon of hope for Sudan. However, the failure to adhere to its provisions has allowed the destructive war to continue, resulting in further harm to civilians and violations of international laws and principles.

Immediate action is necessary to stop the suffering in Sudan. This can only be achieved through collective efforts involving all parties committed to ending the crisis, with the support of relevant regional and international bodies. We call for urgent key steps, including:

Proposing a humanitarian ceasefire during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Clearly informing the conflicting parties that the continuation of war and destruction will only prolong the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Encouraging a return to the negotiating table for a peaceful solution, through the Jeddah Forum and neighboring countries.
Mobilizing regional and international support for a political solution and exerting pressure on all parties to halt the fighting.
Implementing economic initiatives to support the economy and development programs in Sudan.
Ensuring the safe delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate civilian suffering.
Calling on the international community, including the Security Council, to issue a binding resolution to halt the fighting and respect international laws.
Supporting Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries and providing financial assistance to host countries.
Honorable Dignitaries, the future of Sudan depends on our collective efforts to restore peace and stability to this troubled country. Let us work together to unify our efforts and solidarity to assist Sudan in this critical moment in its history.
