The Bahraini military has announced the tragic death of two of its soldiers in a drone attack orchestrated by the Houthi rebels. This incident took place on Monday against forces deployed as part of the Arab Coalition involved in the operations “Decisive Storm” and “Restoring Hope.”

The Bahrain News Agency quoted the Bahrain Defense Force stating that in addition to the two martyred, several others were injured in the Houthi-initiated drone assault on “the force stationed at the southern border on Saudi Arabian soil.” This comes despite a pause in military operations among warring parties in Yemen.

Furthermore, the agency reported that a plane with a complete medical team was dispatched to evacuate the injured, the deceased, and bring them back home.

The official spokesperson for the Coalition, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed the deaths of an officer and a non-commissioned officer, as well as injuries among the Bahraini contingent involved in the “Restoring Hope” operations and stationed on Saudi’s southern border.

Brigadier Al-Maliki expressed today: “While the Coalition’s joint forces command mourns these heroic martyrs who remained true to their faith and nation, they extend their deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of these brave souls.” He prayed for God’s mercy upon the martyrs and for a swift recovery for the injured.

Brigadier Al-Maliki added that the “Joint Forces Command of the Coalition condemns the treacherous attack by Houthi elements, viewing it as a continuation of their hostile acts over the past month, which included targeting an electric power distribution station and a police center in the border area.” He emphasized that such frequent provocative actions contradict the positive efforts being made to end the crisis and seek a comprehensive political solution. The Coalition’s joint forces reiterated their rejection of these provocations, asserting their right to respond at an appropriate time and place.

Tensions have been escalating in the region due to the prolonged Yemeni conflict. The Houthi rebel group, which controls parts of Yemen, has been in conflict with a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and supported by other nations, including Bahrain. The coalition seeks to restore the internationally recognized Yemeni government, which was ousted by the Houthis. Throughout the conflict, cross-border attacks have intensified, emphasizing the broader regional implications of the Yemeni crisis.
