The Kingdom of Bahrain has announced the postponement of all events scheduled for the Bahrain National Day celebrations, initially set for today and the following two days.

The decision comes in response to an order by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, declaring national mourning over the passing of Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Emir of Kuwait.

The mourning period will see a temporary halt of all public festivities, including activities at the Heritage Village, the Festival City, and the Muharraq nights. These venues will remain closed to the public until the end of the official mourning period.

Additionally, the fireworks display at the Bahrain International Circuit, planned to celebrate the National Day this evening, has been rescheduled to Friday, 22nd December.

This move respects the period of mourning and reflects the close ties between Bahrain and Kuwait.

Bahrain’s decision to postpone its national celebrations is a mark of respect and solidarity with Kuwait during this time of loss. The postponement also underscores the deep-rooted connections and mutual support among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.

The celebrations are now expected to resume on 19th December, with the nation looking forward to commemorating its National Day while also honoring the memory of the late Emir of Kuwait.

The rescheduling reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to both its national identity and its regional relationships.
