The Arab Parliament, under the leadership of its President Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoomi, convened its fifth and final general session for the fourth term of the third legislative chapter today at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.

The session was attended by Faisal Al-Fayez, President of the Jordanian Senate, and Jasem Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

In his opening remarks, Al-Asoomi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing its centrality to the Arab world and expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people in their quest for an independent state.

The session extensively discussed the current situation in Arab countries, with a primary focus on the Palestinian issue.

The Arab Parliament reiterated its condemnation of the atrocities faced by Palestinians, characterizing them as genocide and ethnic cleansing, and reaffirmed its support for the Palestinians’ legitimate rights as per international resolutions.

Significant attention was also given to the critical developments in Sudan, highlighting the severe threats to the Sudanese people’s resources, security, stability, and territorial integrity, as well as to the broader Arab national security.

The Arab Parliament stressed the need for a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The situation in Libya was also addressed, with a call for progress towards parliamentary and presidential elections and the completion of postponed commitments to enhance security and stability throughout Libya.

The general session reviewed proposed resolutions and laws submitted by its committees following their preparatory meetings.

These discussions focused on monitoring and addressing the political developments in Arab countries throughout the year, pursuing political solutions to Arab crises, examining the current economic conditions in the Arab region, and supporting joint Arab efforts.

Additionally, the session covered a draft parliamentary vision to combat the movement of terrorists across Arab states and a comprehensive Arab parliamentary vision to enhance security and stability in the Arab world.
