The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, affirmed that the financial agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Tunisia a few days ago is a good example of Arab solidarity.

Aboul Gheit added that it is not strange for Saudi Arabia to take such a step, asserting that Tunisia deserves more Arab support.

A few days ago, an agreement was signed between Tunisia and Saudi Arabia to provide a soft loan of $400 million, and a memorandum of understanding to provide a grant of $100 million.

This would support the stability and prosperity of the Tunisian economy and open new financing channels for Tunisia from donor countries and international and regional financial institutions.

“These agreements aim to support the Tunisian economy to come out of its crisis,” Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Tunisia Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Saqr told the media on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.
