Arab League Condemns Muscat Shooting

The General Secretariat of the Arab League condemned the shooting incident that occurred in the “Al-Wadi Al-Kabir” area of Muscat, Oman, on Tuesday evening, which resulted in multiple casualties and injuries, including a police officer.

Jamal Rushdi, the official spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the League, expressed full solidarity with Oman in all measures it takes to maintain its security and stability.

Rushdi conveyed the Secretary-General’s heartfelt condolences to the Omani government and people, as well as to the families of the victims, wishing a full and speedy recovery to those injured.

The terrorist group ISIS has claimed responsibility for a deadly attack on a mosque in Oman that resulted in the deaths of nine people, including a police officer and three attackers, and left over 28 others injured.

The attack occurred on Monday night in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area of the capital, Muscat, targeting a gathering of Shia worshippers during their annual rituals.

ISIS announced in a statement that three of its operatives carried out the attack, causing significant casualties among both civilians and security forces.

According to the Omani news agency, the incident led to the deaths of five civilians and a police officer, along with the three attackers.

Additionally, 28 individuals from various nationalities were injured, including four members of the police and the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, who were performing their national duties at the time.
