Ibrahim Adam Ahmed Al-Dukhairi, Director of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, emphasized the importance of enhancing developmental activities and conserving natural resources to combat desertification.
During a recent event in Marsa Matrouh, he highlighted the organization’s commitment to fostering connections between Arab nations and coordinating cooperation across various agricultural sectors.
The focus is particularly on developing natural and human resources in agriculture and rural development, improving investment methods based on scientific principles, and increasing the agricultural productivity of both crops and livestock.
The ultimate goal is to achieve the desired agricultural integration among Arab countries to ensure Arab food security.
This statement was made during celebrations marking the sixth edition of the summer school for university students, which focuses on unconventional water sources.
The event was inaugurated by Major General Khaled Shaib, Governor of Marsa Matrouh, and was attended by notable figures such as Dr. Hossam Shawqi, Head of the Desert Research Center, and Engineer Hussein Al-Sanini, Assistant Secretary General of Marsa Matrouh Governorate.
In the context of the celebration, all parties agreed to explore various topics for potential implementation in Marsa Matrouh through a tripartite partnership involving the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (represented by the Desert Research Center), and Marsa Matrouh Governorate.
Among the proposed initiatives is rural tourism, capitalizing on the region’s unique advantages, especially in the Siwa Oasis.
Additionally, the parties discussed the implementation of projects outlined in the Arab strategy for the sustainable management of pastoral resources for the years 2020-2040, which was developed by the organization and adopted by Arab countries.
Capacity-building efforts aimed at improving livelihoods in Marsa Matrouh were also prioritized, with an emphasis on developing intermediate capacities, sharing expertise, and transferring technology.
