In a powerful condemnation, the Arab Journalists Union has publicly denounced the ongoing Israeli assaults targeting journalists in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.
The union criticizes Israel for not only conducting campaigns aimed at the extermination of civilians but also for specifically targeting journalists in these three brotherly nations.
Journalists play a pivotal role in exposing Israeli crimes to the global public, which has made them targets.
In a press statement released on Monday, the union called on all trade unions and international media organizations to expose the Israeli military and condemn its actions.
Furthermore, the Arab Journalists Union expressed its full solidarity with the affected journalists and urged all Arab countries to support them.
The union also appeals to international media organizations, the United Nations Security Council, and global human rights bodies to denounce Israel’s blatant aggression and genocidal warfare against journalists.
It stressed the urgent need for international efforts to provide protection for them, emphasizing the critical role of the press in maintaining global awareness and accountability.
The Government Media Office in Gaza announced this month that the number of journalists killed since the onset of the ongoing war has risen to 175.
This figure includes the assassination of journalist Hassan Hamad, adding to the mounting casualties.
The office condemned Israel for targeting and killing Palestinian journalists, holding it fully responsible for what it described as a heinous crime.
The statement, released on its official Telegram channel, called on the international community and organizations concerned with press freedom to take immediate action.
It urged global bodies to hold Israel accountable in international courts for its ongoing crimes, including the killing of journalists, and to press for an end to what it labeled as genocide against the people of Gaza.
