Algeria & UK Discuss Healthcare Cooperation

Algeria’s Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi, welcomed the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Algeria, Sharon Wardle, at the ministry’s headquarters to discuss enhancing bilateral relations in the healthcare sector. Senior officials from the central administration were also present at the meeting.

According to an official statement, the meeting commenced with an overview of healthcare policies in both countries. It served as an opportunity to exchange views on enhancing and expanding healthcare cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Minister Saihi highlighted Algeria’s healthcare system, which operates on both public and private sectors, and emphasized the free treatment available nationwide. He also discussed the importance of preventive measures that have been fully integrated into patient care plans to avoid various illnesses.

Saihi expressed admiration for the healthcare policies implemented in the UK and expressed interest in benefiting from them through knowledge and experience sharing between Algerian and UK hospitals, similar to previous collaborations between Beni Messous Hospital and a London hospital.

The Minister also suggested the possibility of investing in Algeria’s healthcare sector, drawing attention to new investment laws that provide a conducive environment for such activities.

Ambassador Wardle reciprocated the sentiments, indicating her country’s desire to boost the existing level of cooperation and elevate the bilateral partnership.

In conclusion, both parties agreed to continue discussions and consultations concerning potential bilateral projects that would benefit both countries.
