Algeria is set to host the 34th meeting of the Technical Working Group of the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for Research, Development and Training in Nuclear Science and Technology this Sunday. The event will witness the participation of 32 senior representatives from signatory countries.
According to an official statement, the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohammed Arkab, will preside over the inauguration of the 34th meeting. The forum, overseen by the International Atomic Energy Agency, is a significant milestone for nuclear science and technology cooperation in Africa.
This grand regional event, led by Algeria, will gather 32 senior representatives from signatory countries, heads of the African Regional Cooperative Agreement committees for Research, Development and Training in Nuclear Science and Technology (AFRA), and the Deputy Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, Mr. Hua Liu. Officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency will also attend.
The meeting aims to review the ongoing activities under the agreement, study new project proposals, and provide recommendations for their inclusion in the upcoming AFRA program, the statement further added.
The same source also highlighted that Algeria is invited to take over the presidency of the Technical Working Group of the African Regional Cooperative Agreement for a year, starting from next September.
