On Thursday, Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf engaged in a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, focusing on the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

According to a statement from the Algerian Foreign Ministry, the ministers’ discussion revolved around the persistent hostilities in Gaza and Algeria’s diplomatic mobilization efforts in support of the Palestinian cause, particularly within the framework of the United Nations Security Council.

The call also touched upon ways to enhance bilateral relations, with both sides looking forward to high-level engagements between the two countries in the near term.

Algeria has called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during an emergency session of the Security Council, in line with the International Court of Justice’s measures regarding the Zionist occupation’s aggression against Palestinians in the enclave.

Algeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York, Amar Benjamen, stated during the meeting that the era of impunity has definitively ended, emphasizing the significance of the International Court of Justice’s decision.

The meeting, convened at Algeria’s behest, aimed to give an executive dimension to the International Court of Justice’s decision on provisional measures imposed on the Zionist occupation for its aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
