Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab attended the inauguration of the “Les Sablons” station in the capital city, Algiers, dedicated to charging electric vehicles.
The event took place on Wednesday, marking the first-of-its-kind station in Algeria.
Arkab was joined by the Minister of Labor, Faisal Ben Talib, and the CEO of Sonelgaz Group, Ajal Murad, for the opening of the Les Sablons park station, which represents a significant milestone for the country.
Electric vehicle charging stations, which have surpassed 1.3 million globally by the end of 2020, come in various forms.
Some are wall-mounted charging outlets installed at homes or workplaces, while others are integrated into public facilities, similar to streetlights.
Additionally, there are dedicated columns placed at service stations along highways, which seems to be the model Algeria is adopting.
