In his address, General Salah underscored the importance of the Chemical Weapons Convention as the sole non-discriminatory instrument that has been negotiated at the multilateral level.

He emphasized the need to strengthen oversight of the cross-border movement of dual-use chemical materials. Such measures would significantly enhance controls against security challenges associated with the potential misuse of chemical substances by terrorist groups.

The Algerian Chief of Staff presided over the opening ceremony of the “Senior Officials” day of the African Chemical Exercise, held at the Pine Maritime Exhibition Center in Algiers, the capital of Algeria.

The exercise, attended by representatives from various African nations, aims to promote cooperation and preparedness in dealing with chemical threats while strengthening the commitment to the Chemical Weapons Convention in Africa.

Algeria’s steadfast commitment to the ban on weapons of mass destruction aligns with international efforts to maintain global security and protect humanity from the devastating consequences of such arms. The country’s active participation in exercises like these demonstrates its dedication to regional and global peace.

Algeria has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing international security and peace through the prohibition of weapons of mass destruction, including chemical weapons, which pose a significant threat to humanity and its future.

General Ahmed Gaid Salah, the Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, delivered this message during his speech at the opening ceremony of the “African Chemical Exercise” for countries party to the Chemical Weapons Convention in Africa.
