The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad of Algeria expressed their appreciation on Wednesday for the United Nations mission “MINUSMA” in Mali, following the official conclusion of the mission’s mandate this month.
In a statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also expressed its appreciation for the United Nations and its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for their valuable contributions and support to the implementation of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, which emerged from Algeria’s mediation efforts.
The statement further emphasized Algeria’s steadfast belief that the mentioned agreement remains the most suitable framework for resolving the crisis in Mali and for maintaining, through peaceful means, the sovereignty of Mali, the integrity of its territory, and its national unity.
Algeria called on all Malian parties to renew their commitment to this collective effort to achieve lasting and sustainable peace and reconciliation, in response to the legitimate aspirations of all components of the Malian people to solidify peace and stability permanently.
The statement concluded by noting that Mali’s history is full of lessons that unequivocally affirm that the challenges threatening its stability, unity, and integrity can only be addressed through upholding the values of dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation – the three core values that constitute the essence of the peace and reconciliation agreement in Mali, stemming from Algeria’s mediation efforts.
