An electrification platform, estimated to be worth up to $100 million, promises to bring clean energy, clean cooking facilities, e-mobility services, and other innovative solutions to millions in Africa.
This groundbreaking venture is a result of a collaboration established at COP28 between Bboxx, a super platform powered by data, and EnerTech, a Kuwaiti company known for its innovative, sustainable solutions.
This partnership signifies a mutual pledge to provide clean technology, enabling Bboxx to increase its reach significantly. Currently serving 3.6 million people, the company aims to benefit 36 million individuals by 2028.
Bboxx’s strategy involves connecting consumers across the continent with a diverse range of innovative products, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, from Lagos to Nairobi.
A key element in this rapid expansion is Bboxx Pulse®, a comprehensive operating system. It has an extensive network on the ground linking customers with clean energy, clean cooking, smartphones, smart financing, and e-mobility services, many of which are being introduced to these communities for the first time.
The initial investment from EnerTech, set to begin in early 2024, will accelerate the development and deployment of these crucial services. The funding aims to substantially enhance Bboxx’s market presence and its impact on underserved populations.
Mansoor Hamayun, CEO at Bboxx, commented: ” Our shared vision is to transform the lives and livelihoods of our customers by giving them access to clean and affordable energy, clean cooking, e-mobility and technology like smartphones, that genuinely unlock their potential, day by day. This collaboration with EnerTech is a testament to our commitment to providing sustainable solutions to communities across Africa.”
Hamayun also noted, “This is a prime example of partners recognizing and capitalizing on this immense market potential, utilizing green tech and big data for scalability.”
Abdullah Al Mutairi, CEO of EnerTech, remarked: “The electrification platform will deliver much-needed climate finance to projects that are set to have a beneficial impact on communities – aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal for providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy access. The collaboration will also play a pivotal role in our progress towards carbon neutrality and delivering real change on the ground.”
This announcement is the first in a series of strategic partnerships with the State of Kuwait, which is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2060 and plays a crucial role in developing and advancing the carbon market in Africa.
