The United States Army has officially denied recent claims circulated by Iraqi media and social networking sites regarding military movements by US forces within the country.
American media outlets, quoting a spokesperson from the US Department of Defense, commonly known as the Pentagon, stated, “There haven’t been any movements of this nature in the past few days, either within Iraq or directed towards it.” Furthermore, the Pentagon spokesperson clarified that the videos circulating online, allegedly showing American military convoys, have no affiliation with the US Army.

Recently, rumors and videos suggesting the presence of US military movements in Iraq have been making the rounds in the country.
It’s worth noting that last Saturday, the Iraqi military stationed anti-aircraft defenses on the rooftops of government buildings in several areas of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. This move stirred considerable debate within the nation. The locals, as reported by “Al-Sumaria News”, were taken aback and expressed concern over the placement of anti-aircraft systems on the buildings.

Many citizens took to social media to inquire about the genuine reason for these unexpected and unconventional measures. The spokesperson for the Joint Operations Command of Iraq, General Tahsin al-Khafaji, in press statements, attributed the decision to “protecting Iraqi skies from any aggression, violation, or security threat that the nation may face.”

General al-Khafaji emphasized that such measures are “routine procedures followed worldwide.”
Till now, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense or the concerned governmental bodies haven’t issued any official clarification about the reasons for deploying these systems in the capital.
