Bahrain has officially signed an agreement for the implementation of a sizable 72-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic power project on Tuesday.

Situated in Sakhir, the project encompasses various solar power systems including rooftop, ground-mounted, and car park installations, along with facilities for electric vehicle charging.

This venture, marking the largest of its kind within the kingdom, represents a substantial 28% contribution toward Bahrain’s target of generating 250 megawatts from renewable energy sources by the year 2025.

The initiative also aligns with the nation’s overarching environmental objectives, aiming to curtail energy costs and diminish carbon emissions. These efforts harmonize with Bahrain’s ambitious vision to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, fostering sustainable economic growth for its citizens.
