Doctors Without Borders has reported a concerning surge in malaria cases among Sudanese refugees in Chad due to the rainy season. The organization, in a tweet, pointed out that their clinic in the Ikol camp, situated in eastern Chad, registered 956 malaria cases, marking a threefold increase.

In an official statement, the humanitarian group emphasized, “We urgently need international support to prevent the spread of diseases among the Sudanese refugees in Chad.”

Approximately 350,000 Sudanese have sought refuge in Chad since the outbreak of war last April, and they are now spread across several camps in the eastern part of the country. Chad has been hosting over 400,000 Sudanese refugees in the eastern camps for over 20 years, following the outbreak of the Darfur conflict
