Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour, President’s Advisor for Health and Prevention Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, and Major General Ahmed El-Azzazi, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces.

Presidential spokesperson, Ahmed Fahmy, highlighted that the meeting centered around the development of higher education, as the sector has seen a significant transformation across various levels.

For instance, the number of universities has more than doubled in just a few years, increasing from 49 in 2014 to 92 in 2023. This growth encompasses public, private, and technological universities, as well as branches of foreign institutions.

In the same vein, President El-Sisi emphasized the pivotal role of the higher education sector. It plays a crucial part in strengthening the connection between Egypt’s youth, including students and recent graduates, and the rapid advancements observed in science, technology, and communications today.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that Egyptian students actively contribute to knowledge production. This would position Egypt prominently on both regional and global maps of higher education and scientific research.
