In response to the increased presence of the US military in the region due to recent ship seizures by Tehran, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard conducted an unannounced military drill on Wednesday on disputed islands in the Persian Gulf.

The focus of the drill was primarily on Abu Musa Island, with forces also landing on the Greater Tunb Island, according to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency.

The exercise involved swarms of small, fast boats, paratroopers, drones, and truck-launched surface-to-sea missile systems, as shown in footage aired on state television.
During the drill, Gen. Hossein Salami, the chief of the Revolutionary Guard, addressed the nation in a televised speech, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to security and tranquility.

He stated that the Iranian nation remains vigilant and will respond firmly to any threats, complex seditions, secret scenarios, or hostilities directed towards the country.

The military exercise comes amid heightened tensions in the region and showcases Iran’s readiness to defend its interests in the disputed areas of the Persian Gulf.
