The Iranian Ministry of Defense unveiled on Tuesday its long-range missiles named “Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis”. The Iranian news agency “IRNA” reported that “The Ministry of Defense has delivered to the Army’s and Revolutionary Guard’s Navy, the Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis missile, which is Iran’s first locally made long-range maritime missile put into service.”

The agency added that “the warhead of the Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis missile contains high-explosive materials, capable of destroying boats, warships, and aircraft carriers.”

The agency continued, “Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis’ missiles fly at a low altitude and cannot be traced by radars, and it can change its flight altitude when facing geographical obstacles or radars.”

It is noteworthy that on January 3, 2020, two “Hellfire” model missiles targeted Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of the “Popular Mobilization” in Iraq, along with the commander of the Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, shortly after they left the airport in Baghdad.

The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced, early that day, the execution of an airstrike near Baghdad International Airport, which resulted in the deaths of Qasem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, and others.
