The Prime Minister of Libya’s Interim Government, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, discussed the recurring disrespect towards the Holy Quran in front of the Iraqi embassy in Sweden during a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, last Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this call was part of separate telephone contacts by the Turkish Foreign Minister with several Arab officials, including his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, and Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukri.

The statement further clarified that Fidan discussed the necessity for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take action and the potential joint measures that could be adopted in response to increasing anti-Islam incidents and hate crimes in Europe. They agreed to convene an urgent meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
