Local authorities announced that twin suicide bombings in northwestern Pakistan left at least four police officers dead and 10 others injured.

The bombers targeted a government facility in Khyber, a district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which also serves as the district’s police headquarters.

A high-ranking police officer informed that the two suicide bombers triggered their explosives at the building’s main entrance while being stopped by security forces. The explosion demolished a gate and sections of the facility, and he expressed concern that the number of fatalities might rise.

Earlier in the week, a TTP suicide car bomber targeted a truck transporting security forces in Peshawar, inflicting injuries on six military personnel and two civilians.

The TTP and other rebel groups recently escalated their attacks on Pakistani security forces, primarily in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southwestern Baluchistan provinces, both situated along the Afghanistan border.

In a Twitter post, the Taliban-led Foreign Ministry quoted Muttaqi as telling Durrani that “Afghans will never harm anyone; we will allow none to use our soil against another country; & our efforts will always be directed at working for regional security & stability.”
