The Union of Russian Grain Exporters has revealed that an Arab nation has become a leader in importing Russian grains this year. In a brief statement published on Telegram, the Union of Russian Grain Exporters announced that Saudi Arabia has become a leader in buying Russian grains in the first half of the first month of the 2023/2024 agricultural season.
Last Monday, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency (the Kremlin), announced that the grain agreement ended on July 17. However, Russia will immediately return to implementing the agreement as soon as the Russian part of it is executed.
Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Sputnik that Russia notified Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Nations on Monday of its refusal to extend the grain agreement.
The announcement reflects the increasingly influential role of Saudi Arabia in the global grain market. Moreover, it showcases Russia’s substantial contribution to meeting the Kingdom’s grain demand, which underscores the interdependence of global grain trade.
