The White House announced that President Joe Biden has approved an additional $425 million in military aid for Ukraine.

The package aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia and includes advanced air defense systems, armored vehicles, and a large supply of ammunition.

In a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Biden outlined the details of the aid package.

Over the coming months, the US will provide Ukraine with hundreds of air defense interceptor missiles, dozens of tactical air defense systems, additional artillery units, significant quantities of ammunition, and hundreds of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles.

This significant support reflects Washington’s continued commitment to Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.

Additionally, Biden plans to convene a virtual meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at the leadership level in November.

This meeting will bring together heads of state and government from key international partners to coordinate further military and strategic support for Ukraine.

The meeting, initially scheduled for October 12 at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany, was postponed due to Hurricane Milton. Biden is also set to travel to Germany soon to meet with German leaders to discuss the situation in Ukraine and broader Middle Eastern issues.

During their phone call, Zelensky updated Biden on Ukraine’s strategic efforts to defeat Russia, and both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continued consultations on next steps in the conflict. The US continues to play a crucial role in supporting Ukraine, both diplomatically and militarily, as the war with Russia stretches on.
