Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has reiterated the call for immediate international action to halt the serious Israeli aggression in Gaza.

His statement comes as the humanitarian, security, and economic situation in the region continues to deteriorate, marking a full year since the commencement of military operations by Israeli forces.

Al-Budaiwi emphasized that the international community must take urgent steps to end the brutal Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people, calling for an immediate cessation of military escalation and the lifting of the blockade.

He stressed the importance of ensuring humanitarian aid delivery and opening crossing points to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian population.

The Secretary-General underscored the necessity of protecting civilians, particularly those working in humanitarian and relief services, who face significant risks while fulfilling their duties.

He pointed out that the GCC countries consistently advocate for holding accountable those responsible for crimes against humanity and for ensuring that the Israeli government is held accountable for the violations committed by its occupying forces against unarmed Palestinians.

Al-Budaiwi reiterated the GCC’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, endorsing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This position aligns with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant United Nations resolutions.

Concluding his statement, the Secretary-General called for a unified regional and international effort to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza. He urged the provision of necessary support to the Palestinian people to contribute to stability and security in the region.
