The Joint Force of Armed Struggle Movements (JSAMF), in coordination with the Sudanese army, announced a significant victory over the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in one of the largest battles taking place in North Darfur, Sudan.

In a statement released on Wednesday, JSAMF spokesperson Ahmed Hussein accused the RSF of committing acts of terrorism, blocking a key route between Dabba and Mellit, looting citizens’ property, and preventing humanitarian aid from reaching affected cities in Darfur.

Hussein reported that the Joint Force successfully defeated the RSF in a battle that raged from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, inflicting heavy losses in both personnel and equipment on the RSF in the northern Mellit region.

A JSAMF leadership official told Sudan Tribune that their forces achieved an unprecedented victory, destroying dozens of RSF military vehicles and capturing many more in good condition, along with detaining numerous RSF fighters. The RSF forces were forced to retreat towards the city of Mellit.

The Joint Force, allied with the Sudanese army, is determined to continue its mission towards its specified destination amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict, which has raged between the army and the RSF since April 2023.
