The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) will grant $15 million to the Lebanese army to provide fuel for three months starting October 1, according to a statement posted on X.

The donation aims to help the army cope with Lebanon’s worsening security challenges amid its ongoing economic crisis.

During a meeting with Qatari officials, Lebanese Army Commander Joseph Aoun expressed gratitude for Qatar’s support, noting the grant’s significance in strengthening Lebanon’s security and stability. The initiative reflects Qatar’s commitment to its fraternal relations with Lebanon during challenging times.

Lebanon’s army has been severely affected by the country’s economic and financial collapse, which began in 2019, causing the Lebanese pound to plummet and wages for public sector workers, including military personnel, to decline drastically.
