Early Wednesday morning, five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the city of Tubas in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent confirmed the fatalities, stating that the victims were struck near Al-Tawhid Mosque. Their bodies were transported to the Turkish Government Hospital in Tubas for identification.

The Israeli military announced that its units were conducting counterterrorism operations in both Tubas and the nearby town of Tammun.

According to the military, the airstrike specifically targeted what they described as an “armed terrorist cell” in Tubas, located in the northern West Bank.

This incident follows a broader Israeli military campaign launched in late August, aimed at disrupting militant activity in Tubas, Jenin, and Tulkarem, including refugee camps known for harboring armed groups.

The violence in the West Bank has significantly escalated since the war between Israel and Hamas erupted on October 7.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that at least 662 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank since the conflict began.

In the same period, at least 23 Israelis, including security personnel, have been killed in attacks carried out by Palestinians in the region, according to Israeli authorities.
