An Israeli soldier was killed and four others were injured during clashes in the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank on Saturday, according to Israeli media outlet Hadashot B’zman.

Earlier in the day, Israeli news sources reported a “severe” security event in the Jenin camp, with videos and images circulating on social media showing the evacuation of injured Israeli soldiers.
Israeli military ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport the wounded soldiers.
Palestinian media accounts quoted a statement from the “Jenin Martyrs Brigade” claiming that their fighters targeted Israeli military forces in the Nablus Street area of Jenin with two highly explosive devices.
The statement also reported that the enemy forces were seen retreating following the attack.
A senior source from Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, confirmed that the brigades and other resistance factions had prepared for extended periods of confrontation and engagement.
