The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) Commander, General Michael Langley, affirmed that the U.S. administration is committed to supporting the efforts of the Tunisian Ministry of Defense to enhance the capabilities of the Tunisian army.
During his meeting with Tunisian Defense Minister Khaled Sehili on Wednesday, General Langley emphasized that Tunisia is at the forefront of African countries with which the United States has distinguished and historic cooperative relations.
General Langley stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to recognize the depth and strength of military relations between the two countries, noting the high level of bilateral cooperation and expressing his readiness to further develop and diversify these relations.
The meeting, attended by the U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia and military officials from both sides, focused on the prospects of Tunisian-American military cooperation and ways to further elevate it.
In this context, the Tunisian Defense Minister praised the outstanding level of military cooperation with the United States across various fields, including education, training, logistical support, and joint military exercises. He also highlighted the regular convening of the Tunisian-American Joint Military Commission and its role in implementing agreed-upon cooperation programs, making it a model of cooperation with friendly and allied nations. The minister expressed the ministry’s readiness to further develop and expand the horizons and areas of this cooperation in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
