Abdallah Al-Dardari, UN Assistant Secretary-General, announced today that fighting in Gaza must cease to assess the damage caused by the Israeli war. Speaking to “Al-Qahira News,” Al-Dardari stated that early recovery plans have been developed for Gaza, including a plan to return half a million Palestinian citizens to their homes.

He mentioned that UN teams are already working in Gaza to provide necessary services to Palestinians and have begun establishing centers to support the local community.

Al-Dardari emphasized that UN plans aim to secure electricity and drinking water in Gaza, revitalize the economic sector, and finance small and medium-sized enterprises.

He noted that the Gaza recovery plans will take around five years and cost approximately $3 billion, with UN teams working under the threat of Israeli bombardment.

He highlighted that there is no safe place in Gaza, which remains besieged and at risk of destruction, and that UN teams are working under the constant threat of death. Al-Dardari called for international intervention to ensure the safety of humanitarian operations in Gaza.

He stressed the need for protective measures for UN teams in Gaza and continued to provide essential services despite ongoing Israeli attacks, noting that $56 million is required for debris and waste removal in the sector.
