Turkish media reported that Sami Berhum, a reporter for TRT Arabi, a state-run Turkish broadcaster, was injured during an Israeli artillery attack on their vehicle in the Gaza Strip.

This incident follows accusations from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s office last November, which claimed Israel intentionally targeted journalists in the region.

CNN Turk reported that the vehicle was struck by five bullets, resulting in minor injuries to the journalist.

On October 7, 2023, a severe rocket attack from the Gaza Strip targeted Israel, accompanied by Hamas militants breaching the border, attacking both military personnel and civilians, and taking hostages.

Israeli officials reported approximately 1,200 fatalities from these attacks. In response, the Israel Defense Forces initiated Operation Iron Swords in Gaza and imposed a total blockade on the enclave.

The Gaza health ministry has reported over 40,000 deaths due to Israeli military actions since that date.

Additionally, the Committee to Protect Journalists has recorded the deaths of at least 113 journalists and media workers in Gaza since the escalation of the conflict.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Sunday that the death toll from ongoing Israeli airstrikes has reached 40,099, with more than 92,609 others injured since the conflict escalated on October 7.

This dramatic increase in casualties highlights the severe humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.

In a recent statement, the ministry reported that Israeli forces have carried out two additional massacres against families in Gaza within the past 24 hours, resulting in 25 more deaths and 72 injuries.

The statement also emphasized the difficulties faced by emergency response teams, noting that many victims remain trapped under the rubble or are lying in the streets, unreachable by ambulance and civil defense crews due to the ongoing attacks.
