American Airlines has officially canceled all flights to and from Israel until April 2025, citing concerns over the escalating security situation in the region, according to Israeli media reports.

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation announced on Sunday that the airline had decided to halt all operations in Israel, affecting all routes between Israel and the United States in both directions.

This move by American Airlines follows the decisions of 20 other international airlines, which suspended their flights to Israel starting from June 2024.

The cancellations come in response to fears of a potential war in the region following a series of high-profile assassinations.

On July 30, Israel conducted an airstrike in Beirut, killing senior Hezbollah military leader Fouad Shakar. Just a day later, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, was killed in Tehran.

Both Iran and Hezbollah have vowed a “strong and effective” response to these assassinations, leading to increased tensions and fears of a broader conflict.

Regional and international efforts are ongoing to de-escalate the situation and prevent further deterioration.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been engaged in a devastating military campaign in Gaza, supported by the United States.

The conflict has resulted in over 132,000 Palestinian casualties, including a significant number of women and children, and left more than 10,000 people missing.

The war has caused widespread destruction, severe food shortages, and a humanitarian crisis in the region.

The suspension of flights by American Airlines and other carriers reflects the growing concern over security and stability in the Middle East, as well as the potential risks to international travel in and out of the region.

The situation remains tense, with ongoing diplomatic efforts to find a resolution to the conflict.
