The Syrian Embassy in Beirut has denied reports circulated by media outlets and social media accounts claiming that Syrian authorities have imposed fees on Lebanese citizens entering Syrian territory.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the embassy said: “This news is absolutely untrue, and there have been no changes to the procedures for Lebanese citizens entering Syria.”

The embassy emphasized that any decision on this matter or others will be published exclusively through official channels, including the official page of the Syrian Embassy in Beirut.

In a related regional development, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib stated during a United Nations Security Council meeting in mid-July that any war would be catastrophic for the entire Middle East and beyond, explaining that it would lead to a new migration crisis that Europe would not escape.
