On Sunday, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad received the credentials of the new Algerian Ambassador to Syria, Kamal Bouchama. The veteran writer, former minister, and diplomat has been designated as an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador by Algeria to Syria, marking a significant diplomatic development.

Bouchama, a prominent figure in the diplomatic scene, has been serving as a member of the Council of the Nation as part of the Presidential Third since mid-March 2022. His vast experience and established reputation make him a valuable asset to Algerian diplomacy.

The new ambassador isn’t a stranger to Syria; he served in the same capacity back in 2001, reinforcing his deep understanding of Syrian geopolitics. Furthermore, his stint as Minister of Youth and Sports from 1984 to 1988 has enriched his administrative and leadership skills, making him a well-rounded diplomat.

In addition to his political and diplomatic contributions, Bouchama is also a recognized author. He has penned the book “Prince Abdelkader and His Family, The Last Step in the East,” shedding light on the life of the founder of modern Algerian statehood.

Bouchama’s appointment and the acceptance of his credentials by the Syrian President underline the ongoing diplomatic engagements between Syria and Algeria. With a seasoned diplomat like Bouchama at the helm, it’s expected that this move will further strengthen the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
