State-run Network One TV reported that Iran’s President-elect, Masoud Beizashkian, assured Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas, that the “Palestinian issue” will be a priority for his administration.
During a phone call, Beizashkian condemned the recent Israeli attack on Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, describing the continuation of such “atrocities” as evidence of the regime’s determination to persist in its crimes and kill unarmed Palestinians in Gaza with the aim of breaking the spirit of Palestinian resistance.
The report stated, “Beizashkian affirmed that the Palestinian issue, as a principal issue for the Islamic world, represents a priority for the 14th government.”
He clarified that Iran would work towards achieving a ceasefire and stopping the killings in the Gaza Strip in cooperation with Islamic and neighboring countries, emphasizing that “ending the Zionist occupation is the only solution to the Palestinian issue.”
Beizashkian also had a phone conversation with Mehdi Al-Mashat, the head of the Houthi-led Supreme Political Council in Yemen.
The hardline Iranian news agency Fars reported that Al-Mashat expressed his gratitude to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the Iranian people, praising their support for the “oppressed” Palestinian people.
During the call, Beizashkian commended the Houthi leadership and the Yemeni people for their “courageous decision to support the Palestinian cause.”
