On Saturday, Egypt condemned Israeli airstrikes on Al Mawasi refugee camp in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of Palestinians.

In a statement, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry expressed strong condemnation of Israel’s bombing of the Al Mawasi refugee camp west of Khan Younis, filled with displaced civilians. The attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous innocent Palestinian civilians.

Egypt urged Israel to stop disregarding the lives of unarmed civilians and to adhere to humanitarian standards as required by international law and international humanitarian law. The ministry emphasized that these crimes are unforgivable and unacceptable under any justification.

Egypt highlighted that the ongoing violations against Palestinian citizens complicate efforts to achieve calm and ceasefire, exacerbating the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians amid a shameful international silence and inaction.

On Saturday, over 70 Palestinians were killed and around 300 injured in multiple successive Israeli airstrikes on the Al Mawasi area.

The Israeli military announced targeting Mohammad Deif, the leader of Hamas’s military wing, in an airstrike on the Al Mawasi area. Israeli media reported that Rafah Salama, the commander of the Khan Younis Brigade in Hamas, was also targeted alongside Deif.
