Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, becomes a central hub for discussing the Sudanese peace efforts, with significant participation from Sudanese factions, the United States, the United Nations, and Saudi Arabia. Their shared objective is to establish a political resolution ending the ongoing crisis in Sudan.

US diplomatic sources have confirmed that Molly Phee, the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, will be joining the “IGAD” quadripartite committee meetings in Addis Ababa to discuss the Sudanese situation. This initiative is endorsed by other major stakeholders, including the United Nations and Saudi Arabia, all seeking to resolve the crisis.

The quadripartite committee of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development in East Africa (IGAD) comprises foreign ministers from Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Djibouti. In this context, Khaled Omar Yousef, a prominent figure in the “Forces of Freedom and Change,” has announced the arrival of a Sudanese civilian delegation in Addis Ababa.

Meanwhile, violent clashes involving various types of weaponry have renewed in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. This is happening while regional and international efforts to accelerate the peace process in Sudan are on the rise.
