Morocco’s U-23 team emerged victorious in the African Cup of Nations for the first time in their history. They overcame the Egyptian team in the finals with a score of 2-1, a match that required extra time after a 1-1 tie in regulation time.

Egypt’s “Pharaohs” initially took the lead thanks to Mahmoud Saber’s goal in the 10th minute. However, Morocco’s “Atlas Lions” struck back, equalizing in the 37th minute through Yanis Bakraoui, with Osama Terjalin adding the decisive second goal in the 105th minute.

Despite the Pharaohs’ loss, they secured their spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside the Moroccan team. This marks Egypt’s 14th qualification for the Olympics, though they have never clinched a medal, with their best result being fourth place in both the 1928 Amsterdam and 1964 Tokyo Games.
