Russia Launches 11th Airstrike on Kyiv, Targeting Key Locations

Kyiv faced yet another “massive drone attack” during the early hours of the morning, marking Russia’s eleventh airstrike on the city this month, according to the military administration of Kyiv. The local military released a statement condemning the continuous assaults, stating that the enemy is deliberately targeting key targets in the city while aiming to deplete Ukraine’s air defense resources. The intent behind these airstrikes is to inflict deep psychological stress on the civilian population, the statement added.

In the latest attack, Russia employed 20 Iranian-made Shahed drones and one of its Merlin reconnaissance UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Force successfully identified and destroyed all of them, with no reported casualties. Fortunately, there was no significant damage to major infrastructure, as confirmed by Ukrainian officials.

This airstrike follows a previous attack earlier in the week, in which Russia claimed to have destroyed a US-made Patriot air defense system. However, the Ukrainian military refuted this claim, stating that all 18 Russian missiles launched were intercepted and destroyed. Although two components of a Patriot battery were damaged, the system remained operational throughout the incident, according to a US official familiar with the matter.

The regularity and persistence of these attacks highlight the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance and robust defense measures in Kyiv.
