Egyptian media, citing a high-level source, reported that the Qatari capital, Doha, is hosting a meeting on Wednesday, bringing together Egyptian, Qatari, and American security leadership to discuss resuming ceasefire negotiations in Gaza. Meanwhile, the Egyptian security delegation intensifies its communications to push the negotiation process towards a ceasefire in Gaza.

Axios reported that CIA Director William Burns and Biden’s top Middle East advisor Brett McGurk will visit the region to press for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Egyptian media also informed that a delegation from the Jihad Movement has arrived in Cairo to discuss the situation in Gaza.

The Egyptian media mentioned that the Jihad delegation, led by the Secretary-General of the movement, Ziyad al-Nakhalah, is visiting Cairo “upon an Egyptian invitation to review the Palestinian situation and matters related to the Gaza Strip.”

In contrast, Israeli media stated that the War Council will seek American assurances allowing Israel to continue fighting Hamas in the Gaza Strip if the movement breaches the potential ceasefire agreement in exchange for releasing detainees.

“Times of Israel” quoted a government official as saying that Israel’s request for assurances reduces the chances of reaching a ceasefire agreement in the sector.

The war in Gaza erupted following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on October 7th inside Israel, resulting in the death of 1,194 people, most of them civilians, according to official Israeli figures.

The attackers detained 251 individuals, 120 of whom are still in Gaza, including 41 whom the army says were killed.

Israel responded with a fierce campaign of airstrikes, bombings, and ground attacks that led to the deaths of at least 36,550 people in Gaza, most of them civilians, according to the Ministry of Health in the sector.
