The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Monday the inclusion of several representatives from the British political, journalistic, and expert communities on its “stop list.”
This decision comes amid escalating tensions and provocative rhetoric from British officials, coupled with London’s continued military support for Ukraine.
In an official statement published on its website, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the “anti-Russian provocations” by British authorities and their practical steps towards enhancing Ukraine’s military capabilities.
The ministry highlighted that these actions signal the UK’s intent to maintain a systematic and challenging confrontation with Russia.
In retaliation, the ministry decided to sanction numerous individuals from the British political sphere, journalism, and expert community.
The statement emphasized that attempts by the UK to discredit and isolate Moscow, especially in the context of the ongoing special military operation, will be met with stern resistance.
The Russian ministry criticized British media for their significant role in fostering anti-Russian sentiment and disseminating misinformation about Russia, accusing them of operating under government directives.
Furthermore, the ministry urged British diplomats to cease military support for Ukraine, which it claims leads to civilian casualties and prolongs the conflict.
Western countries, through their military and political backing of Kyiv, aim to thwart the objectives of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.
However, Moscow has repeatedly affirmed that its military actions in Donbas will continue until all assigned objectives are met.
The expansion of the sanctions list marks another step in the deepening rift between Russia and the UK, highlighting the growing geopolitical friction and the complexities of the conflict in Ukraine.
