The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the success of its mediation efforts in the latest exchange of war captives between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, resulting in the release of 150 captives.

This achievement marks the fourth successful mediation by the UAE since the beginning of this year, utilizing its unique relationships with both nations to facilitate the agreement.

The Ministry expressed gratitude to the governments of Russia and Ukraine for their cooperation and responsiveness to the UAE’s mediation efforts, which made the exchange possible. It also reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions to the conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of dialogue, de-escalation, and addressing the humanitarian impacts of the crisis.

Earlier this year, the UAE successfully mediated three other exchanges of war captives between Russia and Ukraine. Additionally, in December 2022, the UAE facilitated a prisoner exchange between the United States and Russia.
