On Tuesday, a fierce battle erupted throughout the city of Khartoum, Sudan, including the downing of a fighter jet.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) claimed responsibility for shooting down the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) jet.

The RSF further stated that they had successfully apprehended the pilot after his parachute landing. In a strongly worded statement, the RSF accused the SAF of committing “heinous massacres” in the greater Khartoum area.

Since 15 April, a brutal conflict has been raging between the armed forces under the leadership of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF, led by his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

This protracted clash has resulted in a staggering death toll of nearly 3,000 individuals and has displaced millions of people.
