The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, emphasized that the increasing global recognition of the Palestinian state reflects a significant shift in international perspectives. He highlighted this in the context of the recent overwhelming support by the UN General Assembly for Palestine’s full UN membership. According to Al-Asoumi, this recognition not only validates the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and underscores the justice of their cause but also exposes the malevolent nature of the occupying force, which he described as unprecedented in history.

In his address at the opening of the fourth session of the third legislative term, Al-Asoumi noted the transformation in global attitudes towards the Palestinian issue. He reiterated that the region’s security and stability could not be achieved through the oppressive and terroristic acts perpetrated by the occupier. Al-Asoumi affirmed that peace could only be realized through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Asoumi also condemned the ongoing severe crimes in the Gaza Strip, including genocide and forced displacement, resulting in thousands of civilian deaths, predominantly among women and children, supported by continual US financial and military aid. He criticized the intimidation tactics against the International Criminal Court (ICC) for its potential indictments against war criminals from the occupying force, reflecting a broader campaign of terror and threats against international advocates for justice.
