Jordan Demands Investigation of 'War Crimes' in Gaza

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi stated on Sunday that the kingdom is demanding an international investigation into what it describes as numerous war crimes committed during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

During a press conference with the director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Safadi emphasized the need to hold those responsible for documented crimes accountable.

He added, Israel must be compelled to respect international laws.

Safadi reiterated, All crossings must be opened, and all restrictions imposed on the work of United Nations organizations in Gaza must be lifted.

All humanitarian needs must be allowed into Gaza, and the use of starvation as a weapon of war, which constitutes a war crime under international law, must cease.

Safadi emphasized that Jordan continues to stand with UNRWA for the importance of its humanitarian role in assisting Palestinians.

He further stated, The role of UNRWA cannot be replaced or dispensed with by any other entity. Despite the wartime conditions in the sector, UNRWA is fulfilling its duties in Gaza.
