Health officials in the Gaza Strip reported that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli offensive has reached 35,233, with a statement on Wednesday detailing the latest casualties. In the past 24 hours alone, Israeli forces have killed 60 Palestinians and injured 80 more, escalating the total number of injured to 79,141 since the conflict reignited last October.

The health authorities highlighted challenges such as continued bombardments and a shortage of civil defense and ambulance services, which have left some victims trapped under rubble.

Separately, in the central West Bank city of Al-Bireh, Ramallah-based health officials reported the death of a 20-year-old Palestinian man at the hands of the Israeli army. The young man, identified as Ayser Safi from Jalazoun refugee camp, was fatally shot in the neck during clashes that erupted on the 76th anniversary of Nakba Day. This day is marked annually on May 15, commemorating the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians following the establishment of Israel in 1948.

The current escalation in Gaza began when Israel launched a major offensive against Hamas, following an attack by the group on the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023. This attack resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and about 250 hostages.
