Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Slovenian counterpart, Tanja Fajon, convened for an extensive discussion session in Cairo, addressing key issues including the enhancement of bilateral cooperation and methods to halt the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The meeting took place at the Tahrir Palace in the capital city on Sunday, welcoming Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, as conveyed by Ambassador Abu Zeid.
During the bilateral closed-door discussion, the two ministers explored a clear vision for enhancing bilateral relations and advancing mutual cooperation. Ambassador Abu Zeid highlighted the coordination efforts aimed at stopping the conflict against Gaza.
Minister Shoukry expressed his welcome for Fajon’s visit to Cairo, reflecting the mutual commitment to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations. He remarked, “Egypt was the first Arab and African country to recognize Slovenia upon its independence and established diplomatic representation.”
At a joint press conference with Minister Fajon, Shoukry added, “We are working to bolster political, economic, and cultural cooperation. During a recent visit to Slovenia, we held a joint bilateral committee meeting and agreed to expedite negotiations to enhance the relationship between our two countries.”
This meeting underscores the ongoing international dialogue and concerted efforts to secure a ceasefire and ensure humanitarian access to Gaza amidst escalating conflicts.
