Paris police chief Laurent Nunez stated today, Friday, that a man shot two police officers after seizing one of their weapons while being detained at a police station.
The police had apprehended the man on suspicion of assaulting a woman inside a residential building in the thirteenth arrondissement of Paris.
Earlier media reports described this assault as a case of domestic violence.
Nunez informed journalists, “We have two police officers seriously injured,” adding that the suspect also sustained severe injuries.
French media reports indicated that the police responded by firing at him after he opened fire in the incident that occurred on Thursday evening.
